Families in Lehigh County have worked for two years to gain use of money called Reinvestment Funds to create an Autism Hub. Hubs are central service areas where families can for information and help for their children with autism, including respite.
Reinvestment funds become available to a community when there is an ending balance in the annual public Behavioral HealthChoices managed care budget. Reinvestment funds must be used to benefit those who are served by the Healthchoices program. Proposals are designed with public input, including families, and submitted to the state for approval. This process allows communities to fund services not currently in the community.
