In 2007, eyes around the nation turned to Luzerne Country, PA, when the Juvenile Law Center (JLC) began investigating reports from youth and their families of harsh –and illegal– treatment during the adjudication process.

In what has been widely acknowledged as the worst juvenile justice scandal in US history, JLC investigators uncovered wide-spread pervasive greed and corruption by dozens of county officials at the expense of vulnerable young people and their families. Advocacy Alliance & Partners Set Up Confidential, Therapeutic Forums for Youth and Families

Many dedicated organizations have been working tirelessly to help the Luzerne County community recover from the juvenile justice scandal and to make the much-needed changes to prevent such devastation from happening again anywhere in the Commonwealth. Starting at the end of May, the Advocacy Alliance will hold confidential, therapeutic support groups in Luzerne County for youth and families disaffected by the Luzerne County juvenile justice scandal. There will be one for parents/guardians and one for older adolescents and young adults.
